The key to living a long life is to keep oneself health and free of disease. Contrary to popular belief, maintaining good health is not that difficult. Below are three simple things that people can do to keep themselves well:

Move

Most people know that regular exercise is important, but some do not know how simple it is to exercise. Walking is one of the best exercises there is because it can be done almost anywhere at any time. People should also make sure that they try to walk as much as possible. Parking further away from one’s destination and taking the stairs instead of the elevator are two simple ways that people can get more walking into their day.

Additionally, it is also important to note that Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis can also help burn calories. Non-exercise Activity thermogenesis , which is also referred to as NEAT, are the activities that people do without thinking. Fidgeting at the desk, twirling one’s hair and tapping a pencil are examples of NEAT activities. Studies have shown that those low-grade activities can burn up to 350 calories per day. This can help a person lose up to 10 additional pounds per year.

Do not go to the restaurant hungry

Overeating is one of the main culprits behind the obesity epidemic. Studies have shown that the typical American family eats out about four to five times per week. There is nothing wrong with eating at a restaurant every now and then, but people should eat a small meal before they go out to eat. Studies have shown that people who go to restaurants hungry eat a lot more. They also have a tendency to order higher-calorie meals.

Drink lot of water

The skin is the body’s largest organ and it is comprised of approximately 70 percent water. Drinking water is one of the simplest things that people can do to keep their skin healthy. Water helps flush out the toxins that can cause acne and other skin-problems. It also gives the complexion a natural glow.

Again, staying healthy does not have to be a challenge. Moving around a lot, eating before going to a restaurant and drinking lots of water are simple things that people can do to improve their overall wellness.

A recently published report by the CDC states that more and more children in America are being diagnosed with autism. IN fact, the diagnoses are increasing at an unexpectedly fast rate. In 2002, the CDC in a similar report speculated that approximately 1 in 156 children suffered from the disorder, but this year that statistic was revised to 1 in 88 children. The difference accounts for a nearly eighty percent increase in diagnoses in less than ten years, and that’s a fact that’s giving significant pause to many scientists, health advocates, and parents.
The National Library of Medicine defines autism as a developmental disorder that usually surfaces within the first few years of a child’s life. The autism is associated with an irregular chemical and/or physiological balance in the brain, but the exact causation behind the disorder isn’t clear. What we do know is that sufferers of autism usually exhibit difficulties in normal social surroundings or may have difficulty communicating with others; there are also a number of behavioral irregularities symptomatic of autism. Much of what we know about autism is still unclear. But we do know that the diagnoses are increasing.
Why the dramatic increase in diagnoses?
Since the CDC’s most recent report on autism, scientists and experts in the field have been quick to identify reasons for the sudden increase in diagnoses. Autism advocacy has greatly increasing over the past few years, with the proliferation of numerous well-funded organizations whose goals are to inform the public about the disorder. These organizations have been able to spread awareness to communities and families who would not have recognized autism before.
Increased awareness has also led to more rigorous testing on behalf of pediatricians and child psychologists who have become increasingly adept at diagnosing the disorder early on. This is all to say that autism as a disorder isn’t increasing with the passage of time; we’re just better at recognizing what was already there.
How early can you diagnose autism?
USA Today reports that the average age of autism diagnoses in children has fallen to 4 years, but doctors are pressing for even earlier diagnoses. The general consensus is that children with autism must be diagnosed as early as possible so that their parents can do their best to mitigate the effects of the disorder before the child’s brain has developed further.
Though autism isn’t “curable,” there are ways for parents to raise and teach their children to live a completely normal life with the disorder. Experts and advocates argue that if you treat the disorder early enough, through various therapies and communication strategies, that more minor cases can completely minimized.

Will the rate of diagnoses increase further?
Whether or not the rates of autism diagnoses among young children will increase is unclear. This uncertainty is only compounded by the fact that scientists are still uncertain about what exactly causes the disorder to take hold in some children rather than others. There’s a general consensus that the autism affects some demographics more than others (boys are much more likely to have the disorder than girls, for example), but there still isn’t enough research to explain the ubiquity of the disorder. We’ll have to wait for the CDC’s next report to see if the trend continues.

The drug that has been present in thousands of people’s lives in America for decades is known as heroin. This illegal and addictive opiate derivative drug was first created 1874 by the chemist known as C.R. Alder Wright. The idea behind the creation of heroin was to create a potent form of a drug similar to morphine, but without addictive qualities. Between the years of 1898 until 1925 heroin was legal to be sold with a prescription to individuals suffering from either a morphine addiction or in need of a cough suppressant. What people at the time did not know was that whenever heroin enters into a person’s body it actually becomes morphine, except it becomes two and a half times more potent that regular morphine. With continual outbreaks of heroin addiction throughout the country, the selling and production of prescription heroin was banned in the year of 1925.
Today, heroin remains as one of the leading drugs of choice by drug pushers and drug addicts and is constantly changing to fit the trends of drugs today. Millions of people in the world have tried heroin even once and there are various methods people use to abuse heroin. When using heroin, there are negative side effects that a person should always consider about each method.

Injecting Heroin
The individual will have to put a small amount of heroin into a spoon and mix it with purified water (purified water is usually not what heroin addicts choose, therefore they are putting themselves at greater risk for infection or disease). An acidic chemical is used that will make the heroin dissolve a little better and it is then heated with a lighter in order to make it dissolve even quicker. Once this is finished they insert the concoction into the syringe, put a tourniquet around their arm and inject the drug to achieve instant euphoria.
- Tracks (scars from the needle)
- Contracting HIV/AIDS and other blood borne diseases from using a dirty syringe
- Collapsed veins
- Infection where the needles are injected
- A much higher chance of overdose
Snorting Black Tar Heroin
Usually, black tar heroin and is dissolved in a spoon by heating it, then the liquid is snorted through a straw. Snorting black tar heroin is a very uncommon method of consumption because of the problems that occur such as:
- Nasal deterioration
- Not that good of a high
- Slimy feeling “goo/heroin” running down the back of the throat
- Chance of the individual developing throat, nasal and mouth cancer
Smoking Heroin and Black Tar Heroin
This practice involves heating the heroin on a piece of foil and using a small tube to suck in the vapors. Smoking heroin is a common practice, but is just as dangerous as injecting heroin. Some dangers of this practice include:
- Lung cancer, mouth cancer, and throat cancer
- Respiratory distress
- Lung collapse
- Trouble breathing
Snorting Heroin
This process involves placing heroin in a line on a hard, flat surface and using a tube of some sort to snort the powder into the nose. Repeated use of this method can result in negative aspects which include:
- Nasal cavity collapse
- Throat, nasal and mouth cancer
- Problems with breathing
Any of the methods of insertion mentioned can become life threatening and without medical help a heroin addiction can and will ultimately end a person’s life. To get help for heroin addiction today, contact one of the heroin addiction treatment counselors today. They will give you step-by-step guidance on what treatment
options will work best for you and they will even help you plan your recovery from the beginning to the end.

The opiate addiction problem is continuing to rise throughout the world due to the increases in prescription opiates that are readily available to people with all sorts of problems in their life. An opiate addiction begins whenever someone first decides to take an opiate drug whether they are prescribed it or not. Once they continuously use the drug their brain will become addicted to the overabundance of endorphins that will constantly be produced in larger amounts that what the individual’s body and mind is used to handling. After repetitive use, the body and mind will no longer be able to function normally without opiates present; therefore a severe opiate addiction will begin.
Am I living with an opiate addiction?
When a person becomes addicted to opiates, they usually do not completely see the addiction because in their mind this drug is helping them deal with pain in their life as well as making them have “happier” moments every single day. It is when an opiate addiction traumatically effects a person that they begin to look for warning signs of an addiction, but sometimes at this point it is a little too late. In determining if you are in fact addicted to your recreational opiate of choice or your opiate prescription, begin looking for obvious warning signs in your life that can include, but are not limited to
•	Changes in your mood
One minute you may be happy about everything in your life and the next you may be completely miserable and even contemplating suicide. This problem can emerge because of the way that the brain works while under the influence. You will feel a sudden rush whenever you take the opiates, but after several hours you will begin to come down from that high and you will no longer have the massive amounts of endorphins making your mood happy, depression will set in and cause you to have extreme changes in mood.
•	Doctor shopping (prescription users)
You may find yourself under the mental impression that without extra opiates you will not be able to handle the “pain” that is in your life. Whether you choose to go to one more doctor or multiple doctors at a time, doctor shopping is a tell, tell sign that there is a serious opiate addiction in your life.
•	Physical changes
You may find yourself losing weight or gaining weight or you may even have problems with your hygiene and normal physical health. This problem that comes with an opiate addiction is due to the lack of the individual’s care for their health and they begin to only concern themselves with getting high. If the opiate addiction persist and you do not get treatment you can be facing physical changes that can include tooth decay, anorexia, open sores all over the body and even hair loss.
•	Social changes
If you have noticed that your family, friends and even coworkers are beginning to shy away from you or act as if there is something wrong with you, you may be struggling with an opiate addiction. When someone is under the influence of an opiate drug they are not in their right state of mind. You as an opiate user may say things out of the way, borrow money and never pay it back, or even hurt your loved one verbally or physically without even meaning too. An opiate addiction can cause you to lose everyone that was ever close to you that in the end can cause you to continue to use opiates more aggressively and cause you to possibly die from your opiate addiction.
Getting help for your opiate addiction
Anyone that is living with an opiate addiction is putting themselves at a high risk for long term damage to their mental, physical and emotional health. There are countless options inside of opiate rehab for someone looking to overcome their opiate addiction and making a commitment to treatment is the best way to begin your life sooner with opiates present. If under any circumstances you may have obtained an opiate addiction, do not hesitate any longer; contact our opiate addiction treatment counselors today and let them help guide you towards a treatment program and a way to get your freedom back, free from opiates.

For the typical adult, there is, in fact, a key to happiness: more sleep. Sufficient shut-eye (seven to eight hours a day) is what wards off colds; lends the brain creativity, wit, and focus; strengthens the body; brightens the complexion; improves sex; and just plain makes life a whole lot sunnier overall. Here’s how to maximize the quantity and quality of your sleep.

Don’t shirk your housework. Make your bed every day and launder sheets often. According to the National Sleep Foundation, seven out of 10 get a better night’s sleep when sheets smell fresh.

Take your vitamins in the morning. Certain types, like B12, can cause vivid dreams, which can wake you. Other pills best popped in the a.m.: painkillers, which may contain caffeine, and some contra¬ceptives, which may alter sleep patterns.

Quit the afternoon coffee run. Even if you swear you’re able to doze after a ventilatte, you’re cheating yourself out of restorative deep sleep. And steer clear of snacks containing coffee, tea, or dark chocolate after 2 p.m. For a late-day boost, go for a 10-minute walk or reach for a high-protein snack like yogurt.

Nix naps if you find it hard to sleep at night. And resist the urge to lie in bed in the morning after the alarm goes off, “The longer you go without sleep, the better your chances of falling asleep,” says Jason Ong, Ph.D., assistant professor of behavioral sciences at Rush University in Chicago.

Ditch the smartphone. And iPad. And laptop. Bedside gadgets make it more difficult to let go of the day and drift into sleep. Charge them outside your room. The bedroom is sacred. Everything from TV-watching to bill-paying is off-limits, except sleep and sex.

Practice letting go. Too wired to sleep? Write down a to-do list and whatever else is stressing you out, then put it away. Focus on a positive outcome for a scenario that is worrying you.

Hire a handyman. And buy some earplugs. Any noise-a loud radiator, a leaky faucet—is a sleep nuisance, even if you’re able to doze off to it. According to a recent Current Biology paper, the thalamus produces sleep spindles (brain activity that refreshes memory) to aid sleep in noisy environments.

Dim the lights at least an hour before hitting the pillow. A bright room can block the production of melatonin (the hormone that makes us sleepy) and make you more alert. Once you’re ready for bed, keep the room completely dark.

Avoid over-the-counter sleep drugs.
They often contain diphenhydramine, an allergy med that will make you drowsy but won’t promote deep sleep. Plus, you’ll wake up groggy and with a dry mouth.

Strike a pose. Yoga may calm an over-aroused nervous system. When Harvard Medical School researchers prescribed a half hour of the Kundalini variety to insomniacs before bed for eight weeks, the subjects went from sleeping a mere 6.25 hours to a decent 7.3 hours.

Keep cool. Some sleep experts suggest turning down the thermostat to between 60 and 68 degrees Fahrenheit.

Unseasonably mild winters in much of the world has caused the flu season to begin the latest it has ever started in almost 30 years, according to an ABC news article. What was initially considered just a very slow flu season is now understood to merely be a late one, which instead of ending in March is just starting to pick up speed. While the flu is relatively harmless in most healthy adults, it can be dangerous and even fatal for the very young, the very old, and those who have compromised immune systems. It’s important that you do all you can to prevent the flu, and, if you do get it, to stop its spread before it harms others. Here are a few tips:
1.	Wash your hands frequently and keep your nails short.
The flu, as with other contagious viruses, spreads mostly from hands coming into contact with your mouth and nasal membranes. As such, the best way to prevent the flu is to simply wash your hands frequently, and avoid touching your face. Keeping your nails short can also act as a preventative, since germs hide and thrive underneath the nails.
2.	Consider getting the flu vaccine.
Because of the late flu season, it’s still not too late to get the flu vaccine, which effectively prevents you from getting a particular year’s strain of the flu. Talk to your doctor or local pharmacist to see what’s available. It’s important to get the flu vaccine every year, since strains mutate and the shot only offers protection for roughly one flu season.
3.	Eat a diet rich in vitamin C.
Preventing the flu also entails keeping your immune system as strong as it possibly can be. While taking a daily multivitamin will certainly help, it’s much better if you consume a balanced diet with all necessary vitamins and nutrients, especially vitamin C, which specifically strengthens the immune system. And a strong immune system will help you withstand the intrusion of the flu virus. Even if you do get the flu, it won’t last nearly as long as compared to its duration if you had a weak immune system.
4.	If you do begin feeling sick, cover your coughs.
Now if you haven’t been able to avoid the flu, the next step is to stop its spread as much as you feasible can. The flu is one of the most highly contagious viruses there is. Since the flu spreads well through the air, it’s important to cover your coughing as well as you possibly can. Instead of coughing into your hands, which you’ll use to touch things, cough into your elbow.

5.	Stay home if you get the flu.
This cannot be stressed too much. Once you get the flu, the only way to recover as quickly as possible is to sleep and drink plenty of fluids. If you go into work while you have the flu, you’ll almost surely give it to someone else. Those who have the flu are contagious for roughly 5 to 7 days, so try to take as much time off as you can feasibly take.

Every living being need to eat or to take food, but why we eat? The answer is partly to satisfy the sense of taste but mainly for the production of energy required to carry out the various activities that characterize life. Indeed, it is energy that rotates the wheel of life. The food that generates energy upon complete oxidation in the body is in form of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Of course, the diet has to be supplemented with a proportionate amount of minerals, vitamins and water. We will briefly discuss the structure and sources of foods.
Carbohydrates: Sources- potatoes, rice, wheat, maize, bananas, sugar, jaggery. Carbohydrates are broadly grouped under three main categories.
Monosaccharide: Sources- the simplest sugars consisting of three or more carbon atom, Examples- ribose, deoxyribose, glucose, fructose and galactose.
Disaccharide: those are formed by the union of two Monosaccharide units, like as maltose, lactose, sucrose etc.
Polysaccharide: these are formed by the union of a large number of Monosaccharide units, like as starch, glycogen, cellulose etc.
Fats: Sources- butter, ghee, oils, Groundnuts, almonds. Fats are the storage form of energy for the body and are consumed by the body when carbohydrates are scarce. Fats are high in energy, yielding nine calories of energy per gram. High levels of fat, however, increase blood cholesterol. When a person fasts, experiences stress or suffers diabetes, the body increases its breakdown of fats to release energy.
Proteins: which consist of joined amino acids, are used as an energy source when carbohydrates are scarce in the body? For the most part, however, they’re used for growth and tissue repair. Proteins are mostly absorbed from meats. Four grams of protein yields one calorie of energy for the body. Excess proteins in the body are broken down by the liver and excreted in urine.
Enzymes: An enzyme is a biocatalyst made up of protein, and like other catalysts, it accelerate the rate of reaction without itself being used up. Almost all reactions in living organisms take place directly or indirectly under the influence of enzymes. As catalysts, their function is to accelerate the attainment of equilibrium in reversible reactions by catalyzing both the forward and reverse reactions. Therefore it is expected that one and the same enzyme system would catalyze the breakdown of a substance and its synthesis.
Vitamins and Multivitamins compared to carbohydrates Protein or fats are required a small amount.

When it comes to teeth and gum health, many seem to primarily focus on the bad foods – the candy, soda and other substances that parents and dentists alike have likely reminded you countless times can rot your teeth. The fact is, however, that there are quite a few foods that are actually quite good for your teeth and gums. Including more of these foods in your diet can have a significantly beneficial impact on your oral health.

1. At the top of the list is water. Although not technically a food, water can be very beneficial to the health of your entire body, including that of your teeth and gums. For example, it contributes simply by washing your mouth clear of particles of the food you eat, preventing them from rotting and contributing to cavities. Additionally, by keeping you hydrated, water helps your immune system properly fight off infections and disease, including those that impact your teeth and gums.

2. If drinking only water sounds rather bland to you, drink tea instead of sugary sodas and similar beverages. In addition to helping ensure that you consume enough water, many green and black teas are very rich in antioxidants that help reduce your risk for tooth or gum diseases.

3. Kiwi is one of the mostly densely packed fruits in the world in terms of vitamin C content. Your body needs this vitamin C to create collagen, which is a critical component of healthy gums. Collagen is also founds in your skin, ligaments and other tissues.

4. If you are a sushi lover, you are in luck. The wasabi, or Japanese horseradish, that frequently accompanies sushi is packed with isothiocyanates, which give wasabi its spicy flavor. These isothiocyanates can help fight off the bacteria that create cavities in your teeth.

5. Chew sugarless gum regularly. Any kind of sugarless gum can be very beneficial to your teeth because it helps them to stay scrubbed of debris. It also helps activate your saliva glands; your own saliva can help kill the bacteria that cause gum disease, cavities and other dental health problems.

6. Milk and other dairy products are rich in both calcium and vitamin D. These two nutrients are the basic building blocks of strong, healthy teeth — and of strong, healthy bones as well.

7. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables that are high in fiber, such as celery and carrots. The fibrous particles of these foods help naturally polish and clean your teeth. And like chewing gum, eating these foods helps stimulate your natural saliva production as well, rinsing your gums and teeth and fighting bacteria development.

Although eating a healthy diet and staying thoroughly hydrated are both critical for maintaining healthy teeth and gums, that is not enough by itself. You also need to brush your teeth regularly and floss at least daily. And of course, do not forget to visit your dentist at least twice per year. Following all of these habits should help you maintain good dental health for your entire life.

There are plenty of treatments on the market for getting rid of (or at least fading) unsightly stretch marks and scars, and one of the more favoured methods would have to be the application of essential oils. Of course, you cannot use all essential oils for stretch marks, so which ones actually work?

Lavender

This essential oil is suitable for use on marks and scars even during pregnancy (although it should be kept in mind that it should not be used before the second trimester). If you apply it to the affected areas of your skin, you should begin to notice a difference in the appearance of your scars within weeks.

Neroli

This essential oil for stretch marks is extracted from the flowers of the orange tree, and is said to stimulate skin cells and encourage them to regenerate.

Mandarin

This essential oil is extracted from the mandarin (or tangerine) fruit and, unlike other citrus-based essential oils, does not increase your susceptibility to sunburn. It is said to help keep your skin hydrated and moisturized.

However, when applying essential oils for stretch mark treatments, you will need to ensure that you first mix them with carrier oil, as essential ones need to be diluted before they touch our skin. Carrier oil helps our skin to absorb the treatment quickly. So, which carrier oils should you be using for treating stretch marks?

Jojoba

This carrier oil is extracted from the Jojoba plant, and has actually been used in skin treatment by the Native American Indians for centuries. It is suitable for use on all skin types and for a number of skin conditions (including eczema and sun burn). For stretch marks, it is known to help soothe, moisturize and restore the damaged skin.

Almond

This carrier oil should be applied to your skin once a day. Preferably, this should be done just before going to bed, as it gives the oil enough time to completely soak into your skin. It can also be applied after bathing, as our pores are open and the oil will be quickly absorbed. Like jojoba oil, almond is hugely moisturizing.

Carrot

This carrier oil for treating marks and scars actually acts as a moisturizing base and it contains Vitamin A and beta-carotene, which are both highly beneficial to our skin.

There are many other essential oils that are suitable for use in the treatment of stretch marks (such as patchouli, rose, geranium and jasmine), but the ones listed above are definitely the most popular. By mixing these oils for stretch mark treatment with one of the listed carrier oils, you will greatly nourish your skin and help along the healing process.

Now a day’s stretch marks treatment is possible. Use stretch mark cream or oil to get rid of stretch marks.
